Teaching & Mentorship
Preceptor = Assistant Instructor
Precept = Discussion Sections
During my PhD, I twice worked as the lead instructor for a co-taught Climate and Environmental Justice course with the NJ Prison Teaching Initiative, prepping in the fall semesters and teaching onsite at East Jersey State Prison and the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in the spring. I was also a visiting co-instructor in 2021 for an Environmental Studies course at Swarthmore College, UNFCCC and the International Climate Regime, which prepared students for engaging with and attending COP26 in Glasgow.
At Princeton, I was twice the Assistant Instructor (aka Preceptor) for an undergraduate course titled, The Environment: Science and Policy – for which I received very high praise in my course feedback, as seen below. I also taught one-off methods workshops for undergraduate thesis prep (Qualitative Research Methods and MAXQDA), co-advised an undergraduate thesis (Calif Chen ’23: Building Equitable Outcomes, BRIC by BRIC: Investigating Barriers to Coastal Resilience Funding Faced by Disadvantaged Communities), and directly supervised one master's and one undergraduate research assistant.

I enjoy teaching and mentorship immensely, and have sought out many opportunities to serve as an instructor in a variety of forms.
While working as a staff member in the Office of Sustainability at Swarthmore College, I supported course development and faculty hiring in Environmental Studies (ENVS), as well as spearheaded extensive student internship and career development opportunities. I founded and served as Program Director for several high-demanding student internships with the Office of Sustainability, such as the Green Advisors – thereby directly supervising 30+ undergraduate interns each academic year. I similarly founded and closely supervised an annual program for staff & faculty, in which 20 volunteers attended professional development workshops and each partnered with a student Green Advisor to pursue sustainability projects in the Advocate's department. Finally, I also worked as an Assistant Instructor for two ENVS courses: Sustainability Research Methods and Compost and Climate Change.
